::: WILMA – An Inspiration :::

Inspirational, Story Of D Day

WilmaRudolphForBLOGSTORY

::: THE WILMA RUDOLPH STORY :::

Wilma Rudolph was born into a poor home in Tennessee. At age four, she had double pneumonia with scarlet fever, a deadly combination which left her paralyzed with polio.

She had to wear a brace and the doctor said she would never put her foot on the earth. But her mother encouraged her; she told Wilma that with God-given ability, persistence and faith she could do anything she wanted.

Wilma said, “I want to be the fastest woman on the track on this earth.” At the age of nine, against the advice of the doctors, she removed the brace and took the first step the doctors had said she never would.

At the age of 13, she entered her first race and came way, way last. And then she entered her second, and third and fourth and came way, way last until a day came when she came in first.

At the age of 15 she went to Tennessee State University where she met a coach by the name of Ed Temple. She told him, “I want to be the fastest woman on the track on this earth.” Temple said, “With your spirit nobody can stop you and besides, I will help you.”

The day came when she was at the Olympics and at the Olympics you are matched with the best of the best. Wilma was matched against a woman named Jutta Heine who had never been beaten.

The first event was the 100-meter race. Wilma beat Jutta Heine and won her first gold medal. The second event was the 200-meter race and Wilma beat Jutta a second time and won her second gold medal.

The third event was the 400-meter relay and she was racing against Jutta one more time. In the relay, the fastest person always runs the last lap and they both anchored their teams. The first three people ran and changed the baton easily.

When it came to Wilma’s turn, she dropped the baton. But Wilma saw Jutta shoot up at the other end; she picked the baton, ran like a machine, beat Jutta a third time and won her third gold medal.

It became history: That a paralytic woman became the fastest woman on this earth at the 1960 Olympics.

::: The Fruit Basket :::

– – – A Wonderful Story With A Powerful Lesson – – –

An old Farmer lived on a farm in the mountains with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading The Holy Quran. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could.

One day the grandson asked, “Grandpa! I try to read The Holy Quran just like you but I don’t understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close The Holy Quran.  What good does reading The Holy Quran do?” The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, “Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water.” The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, “You’ll have to move a little faster next time,” and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead.

The old man said, “I don’t want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You’re just not trying hard enough,” and he went out the door to watch the boy try again. At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back to the house. The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, “See Grandpa, it’s useless!” “So you think it is useless?” The old man said, “Look at the basket.”

The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.

::: MORAL :::

“That’s What Happens When You Read The Holy Quran. You Might Not Understand Or Remember Everything, But When You Read It, You Will Be Changed, Inside and Out. That Is The Work Of The Almighty In Our Lives.”

::: The Ant and The Contact Lens :::

Inspirational, Story Of D Day

The-Ant-and-the-Contact-Lens

::: The Ant and The Contact Lens :::

Brenda was a young woman who was invited to go rock climbing. Although she was very scared, she went with her group to a tremendous granite cliff. In spite of her fear, she put on the gear, took hold of the rope, and started up the face of the rock.

Well, she got to a ledge where she could take a breather. As she was resting there, the safety rope snapped against Brenda’s eye and knocked out her contact lens. There she was, on a rock ledge, with hundreds of feet below her and hundreds of feet above her.

Of course, she looked and looked and looked, hoping her contact lens had landed on the ledge, but it was just not there. Here she was, far from home, her sight was now blurry. Brenda was desperate and began to get upset. She prayed to the Lord to help her to find it.

When she got to the top, a friend examined her eye and her clothing for the lens, but there was no contact lens to be found. Despondent, she sat down with some of the party waiting for them to make it up the face of the cliff. She looked out across the range of mountains and thought of the  verse that said: “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth …” She thought “Lord, you can see these mountains. You know every stone and leaf and you know exactly where my contact lens is. Please help me.

Finally, she walked down the trail to the bottom. A new party of climbers was just starting up the face of the cliff. One of them shouted out: “Hey guys! Anybody lose a contact lens?” Well, that would be startling enough, but do you know where the climber saw it? An ant was moving slowly across the face of the rock, carrying it on his back.

The story gets better. Brenda’s father is a cartoonist. When she told him the incredible story of the ant, her prayer and the contact lens, he drew a picture of an ant lugging that contact lens with the words: “Lord, I don’t know why you want me to carry this thing. I can’t eat it, and it’s awfully heavy. But if that’s what you want me to do; I’ll carry it for you.

::: MORAL :::

I think it would do some of us good to occasionally say, “God, I don’t know why you want me to carry this load. I can’t see any good in it and it’s awfully heavy. But if you want me to carry it, I will.”

You see, we all have a burden to carry and sometimes we don’t know why. It could be just because we are to be an example to someone else or by answered prayer by being humble before God.

God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called. Yes, I do love God. He is my source and my Saviour. He keeps me functioning each and every day. Without Him, I am nothing, but with Him … “I can do all things which strengthened me.”

Why Women Are Special

Husband & Wife were watching TV when Wife said, “I’m tired, and it’s getting late. I think I’ll go to bed.”

She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day’s lunches.

Rinsed out the bowls, took vegetable out of the freezer for morning, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and
bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.

She then ironed a shirt and secured a loose button.

She picked up the game pieces left on the table, put the phone back on the charger and put the telephone book into the drawer.

She emptied a waste basket and hung up a towel to dry.

She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom.

She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher and pulled a text book out from hiding under the chair.

She signed a birthday card for a friend, Addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store.

She put both near her bag. Then she washed her face, put on her moisturizer, brushed her teeth…..

Husband called out,
“I thought you were going to bed.”
“I’m on my way,” she said.
She put some water into the dog’s dish, then made sure the doors were locked.

She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside lamps and radios, and had a brief conversation with one kid who is still up doing homework.

In her own room, she set the alarm; laid out clothing for the next day.

Said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals, about that time,

Husband turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular.
“I’m going to bed.”
And he did… without another thought.
